The European Tang Soo Do Federation (ETSDF)
The European Tang Soo Do Federation (ETSDF) teaches one of the oldest and most respected martial arts—Tang Soo Do. This traditional Korean martial art is rooted in the ancient Korean kicking style of Tae Kyun and incorporates the soft, flowing movements of Chinese martial arts systems.
While Tang Soo Do maintains the rituals and discipline of a traditional martial art, it equips every student with effective, modern self-defense knowledge, techniques, and capabilities.
The ETSDF is led by Grandmaster Suresh Nar and is part of the larger global organization, the International Martial Arts Association (IMA). The IMA is dedicated to the worldwide proliferation of Tang Soo Do and the promotion of its values.
The European Tang Soo Do Federation is strongly committed to teaching Tang Soo Do in a highly disciplined, safe, and positive environment. Our focus is on developing high moral character, including core values such as respect, honesty, and responsibility.
Our students train in structured, often physically intense classes, where they master defense and combative techniques. We take pride in helping our students build confidence not only in their martial arts skills but also in other areas of life. Through Tang Soo Do, we foster a sense of community that extends beyond training sessions.
While Tang Soo Do is primarily an art form, our training sessions aim to improve both the physical and mental self. Our primary goal is to show students how physical and mental training complement each other, requiring both hard work and respect.
The ETSDF is dedicated to creating a stimulating learning environment for its students. Our instructors are encouraged to explore innovative ideas in teaching and learning, while maintaining the core ethos of the federation. We strive to improve self-control, awareness, concentration, discipline, and fitness. Together, we work toward self-betterment, a key tradition and legacy of Korean martial arts.
The European Tang Soo Do Federation has clubs in England, Scotland, Ireland, Malta, Finland, and Italy.
